Votes, proceedings, and accompanying reports for two sessions. Bound together in one volume. Missing the boards and spine, but the text block is still firmly held together with no loose or detached leaves. A large volume, weighing 2.4 kilograms. Page dimensions: 316 x 200mm. Session XVIII includes a Departmental Report on the Goldfields by Vincent Pyke on pages 135-149. Session XIX has a section titled "Papers and Reports printed apart from the Votes and Proceedings", which includes the "Report of the Port Chalmers Extension Commission" (27 pages + 1 large folding map by the Otago Survey Lithographic Press showing the town of Port Chalmers and Koputi Bay, the map has a 1" tear), and "Reports of the Mining Surveyors for the quarter ending June 1864" (17 pages + 2 plates (1 folding) + 2 maps (1 colour & folding). The four mining surveyors are Drummon (Tuapeka), Coates (Dunstan and Mount Benger), Wright (Wakatipu) and O'Brien (West Taieri and Mount Ida). The first map plate has two sketch maps on it, the upper is titled "Rough Sketch Shewing Position of the Blue Spur", the lower is titled "Rough Sketch of Sinkings Post Office Hill Wetherstons". The second map is printed by Fergusson & Mitchell Lithographers, Dunedin, and has some colour in gold and red printed on it. It shows Lake Wakatipu, the Shotover and Kawarau Rivers. It has a printed signature "W. C. Wright Mining Surveyor Queenstown June 30. 64". The dimensions of this map are approximatley 350 x 310mm. Also bound in with this volume are "Report of the Commission on Roads and their Construction" (93, [2] pages); and "Report of the Commission of Enquiry into the Constituion and Management of the Dunedin Hospital & Lunatic Asylum" (55, [1] pages). Other than the mining reports, the Votes and Proceedings sections also have some references to Gold. Other subjects include Gaols, Railways, Salmon, Mount Misery, Government Buildings, Exhibition Building, and a fairly lengthy "Geological Survey Deparment Report, Geological Survey, Otago, New Zealand" (pp. 85-132 of the Departmental Reports, Session XVIII, 1864).
