Among the Mamunds and Salarzais. "This book does not in any way profess to be an historical account of the war. I carried a sketch book with me throughout the operations with which I was fortunate enough to be connected, and made constant use of it, finishing up my rough drawings daily during odd leisure moments in camp, while details were fresh in my mind. In this way I gradually compiled what might be termed a pictorial diary of my wanderings." - from the author's preface. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall
