School prize label on front endpaper. St. Patrick's College, Wellington, N.Z. gilt stamp on front board. Cloth split along entire length of front joint, and beginning to peel away from inner margin of front board. Spine worn. Some splitting to cloth in rear joint. Rear pastedown endpaper damaged with labels removed. Staining to rear board. Hinges weak. Internally good. No tears or chips to the folding maps. Some foxing. Overall a rough reading copy.; First printing of the "Revised Popular Edition", September 1934 (with the emphasis on the word"revised", as a "Popular Edition" was first published in 1930 and reprinted in 1930 and 1931). "The aim of this edition is to make the story of our adventures available to a still wider circle of readers by reducing the published price, a desideratu, which has been effected by eliminating a number of the less important illustrative plates" - from the preface to the Revised Popular Edition. xxxii, 438 pages + frontispiece + 34 illustrations on 17 plate leaves + 18 in-text diagrams and maps + 3 folding maps. Blue boards with black lettering on spine and front board. Page dimensions: 215 x 139mm. "In this edition of 'The Home of the Blizzard' it has been my endeavour to present a connected narrative of the Expedition in a less expensive and more concentrated form than in the large two-volume work." - from the author's preface.
