Hargrave, John The Confession of the Kibbo Kift: A Declaration and General Exposition of the Work of the Kindred London Duckworth (1927) First Edition Hardcover Very Good- with no dust jacket Some rubbing to boards. No signatures. A few spots of foxing to page edges.; 342, [1] pages. Black cloth boards with gilt lettering and symbol on spine. Page dimensions: 183 x 122mm. Appears to be some form of revolutionary manifesto. "And if it is to be Nordic - if it is to be a band of Young Flaxen-haired Giants Morris Dancing in the sun - what can it possibly signify beyond giving a pleasant and harmless outlet for young fellows who can afford the pastime and who find it easier to revolt against intellect than to set their minds and 'rhythms' to any constructive analysis of human needs?" - page 45. "Imprint of the Kincouncil". "Based on the woodcraft principles of naturalist Ernest Thompson Seton that had been a key part of the early Scout programme, the Kibbo Kift was to be not merely a youth organisation but was to involve all ages and, very daring for the times, it was open to both sexes. The ideas of world peace and the regeneration of urban man through the open-air life replaced the nationalism and militarism Hargrave had detested in the post-World War I Scouts." - Wikipedia entry on Kibbo Kift (25 Oct 2010).; 8vo Price:
