128 pages + 16 pages publisher's advertisements dated Jan. 1834 (for Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, Green, & Longman). Page dimensions: 216 x 137mm. Lacking all preliminary leaves, including the title page, and lacking all leaves after page 128. Bound in contemporary full leather boards. Marbled endpapers. Front board very worn and stained, with losses to leather including a 1 1/2" chip in the middle of the board. Extensive chipping to the lettering piece on the spine. 3" split to leather in rear joint. Some heavy wear and shaved areas to the leather on the rear board. Pencilled marginalia and underlining. An incomplete portion only of the Encyclopaedia of Geography (when complete, this title should have xii, 1567 pages). Includes all of "Part I. History of Geography", including 14 in-text map illustrations. "Part II. Principles of Geography" begins on page 67, but is interrupted part-way through on the final text leaf present in this volume, page 128. The portion of Part II present in this volume includes the following contents: Doctrine of the Sphere; Division and Measure of Time; Eclipses; Phases of the Moon; Motion of the Earth Round the Sun; Law of Universal Gravitation. Part Two includes small in-text figures, diagrams and tables. ; 8vo
