iv, 140 pages. Spiral binding. Page dimensions: 299 x 211mm. Numerous b&w illustrations (although these illustations have not been printed very clearly). This copy inscribed by the author "Best Wishes Jim White". Also included loosely is an unsigned letter from the author (1 page). Military history, World War II. The autobiographical reminiscences of a New Zealand soldier. "[. . .] starts with Jim White's earliest days in the Army before proceeding overseas and joining 19 Armoured Regiment in Egypt in August 1943. Jim's sense of humour contributes much to the readability of his chronicle of the numerous activities - his own, and of the regiment in Italy - from Perano in November 1943, right through to Trieste in May 1945." - from the Foreword by Stuart J. Wilson. "The writing of this book has brought back many memories, some of them good and some of them painful. A soldier's part in warfare is to clean up the mess started by ambitious and greedy men. This can only be achieved by being as brutal and as ruthless as those people are in the furtherance of their desires." - from the author's introduction. ; 4to ; Signed by Author
