Moderate dampstains to lower corners of boards and endpapers. Some foxing and sprinkle of staining to leaves.; "People's Edition". 48 pages + 32 pages advertisements (advertisements dated November, 1866). Original cloth boards with gilt title on front board. Page dimensions: 192 x 123mm. "Even as mere languages, no modern European language is so valuable a discipline to the intellect as those of Greece and Rome, on account of their regular and complicated structures." - page 15. "Moral and religious education consist in training the feelings and the daily habits; and these are, in the main, beyond the sphere and inaccessible to the control of public education." - page 37.
