Provenance: Bookseller's ticket on front endpaper "Joseph Cook / Bookseller & Stationer / St. Andrews"; early owner's signature "William Gay / No. 14 James Street / Pittenweem / Fifeshire"; Later owner's signature "W. [Gary?]". (A nice local provenance.); Second edition. xv, [1], [17]-204, [4 (blank)] pages + frontispiece + 7 plates + 1 folding plan. Blind-stamped mauve cloth boards (faded) with gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Page dimensions: 191 x 114mm. 15 illustrations in total, including the map and in-text vignette illustrations. This work includes descriptions of the golfing links at St Andrews on pages 71 and 77-79, and of the golf club and golfing ground on page 169.
