Creasing to lower corner of front wrapper. A 1/2" tear at tail of spine. A 1/2" chip at corner of rear wrapper near head of spine. Some foxing. No signatures.; With two title pages at the beginning. The first title is given above. The second title reads: "The sett, and decreet arbitral of King James the 6th. of blessed Memory. Containing the fundamental principles of the government of the City of Edinburgh, and deciding all Differences betwixt Merchants and Crafts-men therein, as it is Registrat in the books of council: Together with The two Acts of the Town Council relating to the same." Also with a half-title page "The Sett of the City of Edinburgh. Printed in the Year 1683." The half-title has a large font size for the word "Sett", and typographical borders including question marks. Also with a third title page, following page 34, for the second part "Acts of the Town Council of Edinburgh Determining the Time how long the Lord Provost [. . .]". Pagination: [10], 34, [2], 16, [2], 4 pages. Page dimensions: 140 x 80mm. Full leather binding (19th century or earlier). Marbled endpapers, the marbled paper has a nonpareil pattern, and is principally crimson in colour. Gilt stamp to centre of each board. Gilt rule on spine. Rectangular double line blind-stamped border to boards. Moderate chips and losses to leather. The binding is unusual in that on the rear board, half of the darker coloured leather is missing, but beneath there is a binding of similar style in a lighter colour of leather. The darker coloured leather is also missing from the lower 1" of the spine. Previous owner's name on half-title page "J M Brown / Kinross / Oamaru [New Zealand] 1879". Also with Brown's engraved ex-libris bookplate with the Latin motto "Delectat et Ornat" on the front endpaper. ; 8vo
