No signatures. Contemporary bookseller's sticker on front endpaper "Hyndman's / Dunedin". Some foxing. Some dampstains to boards. Dust-jacket has large losses to margins, with tears and fading. Dust-jacket protected in archival mylar cover. ; Uncommon in dust-jacket. vii, [3], 253, [1 (blank)] pages + [4] pages advertisements + frontispiece. Orange boards with black lettering on spine and front board. Black border to front board and small illustration. Page dimensions: 182 x 123mm. Map of Cape York Peninsula on front and rear free endpapers. Vignette illustrations at the head of each chapter. Black rule on spine and black border on front board. The true story of the author's Robinson Crusoe-like adventures on a deserted isle. An earlier version that was disguised as fiction was published by Cornstalk Publications in 1927, being the author's first book. The story was then republished in the present form in 1938, as a non-fictional autobiographical account. The dust-jacket on this copy has press reviews of "Madman's Island" on both flaps and on the rear panel, so would seem to be a later issue dust-jacket. The price on the front flap of the dust jacket is "6/-".
