Moderate rubbing to boards and spine. Some staining to page edges. Musty smell. ; Scarce early New Zealand almanac. Seventh year of issue. [2], [6], (17)-224 pages + [95] pages advertisements at rear (including advertisement on rear pastedown). 19th century half calf binding. Soune with four raised bands and gilt decoration. Page dimensions: 184 x 120mm. This copy interleaves throughout with blank leaves of laid paper. Writing in what looks to be a near contemporary hand on some of the early leaves: "Julius Ceasar [sic] with the assistance of Sosigenes an Alexandrian philosopher; decreed that every fourth year should have 366 days)" - facing page 20; also names of the week in French etc. On the endpapers at front and rear are pasted many small newspaper clippings, several of which refer to Chapman's New Zealand Almanac. Advertisements at rear are mostly for Auckland businesses. Printed by "Creighton & Scales, Printers, Auckland."
