Spine torn along most of front joint. Covers are early but not original yellow printed covers. Frontispiece map has large tear along inner margin, and a 30mm tear where it the map is adhering to the inside of the front cover. Some pencil underlining throughout. ; Scarce. xv, [1], 195 pages + frontispiece map. Early card covers. Does not have original yellow paper covers. Page dimensions: 184 x 105mm. The first part of the work is a "Lecture on New Zealand", with information usefult to emigrants. The second part, starting on page 45, is a third edition of the author's "An Account of the Settlement of New Plymouth" (The first edition of the New Plymouth work was in 1849, see Bagnall 2709.) The third section, beginning on page 153, is "The Canterbury Association, and the Canterbury Settlement." [Reference: Bagnall 2745]
