Four of the six bound volumes have a moderate degree of old mould stains at the endpapers and to the margins of the first few and last few leaves. The text is still completely readable, and it is still overall a good set for all except those with a particular antipathy to any sign of mould. Gutters broken at rear hinges on two volumes. The leather is still strong and supple. A few 3/8" superficial chips and scrapes to leather spines. This copy is interesting as it has 3 pages of marginalia neatly written on the blank front endpaepr and the blank verso of the title leaf. Marginalia begins: "(1) divested of most of his clothes and clad in a loose outer garment, both f. slipshod and with c.t. put 3 times round his neck. In this state he is brought to door b S. Standing erect with his f. forming an angle of 60[degrees], and with his r.h. up, he is made to O."
